“The final examination of the government research internship report contributes to the academic development of both students and the Government Science program,” stated Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si., Head of the Government Science Program, during the opening of the internship report examination in Room 604, GKB 1 UMM.

The examination was attended by representatives from the Regional Election Commission (KPUD) of Malang City and the Head of the Community Empowerment Division of the Family Planning and Community Empowerment Agency (BKBPM) of Malang City.

Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si., explained, “This examination is essential to evaluate the students' performance in the field and to use the findings as a basis for improving and further developing the internship program,” she said.

The student internship program, in addition to enhancing students’ knowledge and the study program, also greatly benefits the host institutions in carrying out their programs in line with their respective functions and responsibilities. A KPUD representative expressed appreciation, stating, “We are greatly assisted by the presence of interns at our institution. We hope this internship program continues to foster sustainable collaboration between KPUD and UMM's Government Science Program.”

The community also expects universities, including their students, to actively participate in supporting programs that directly impact society. A representative from BKBPM explained, “We assign interns to assist in implementing BKBPM programs that directly engage with the community, such as collecting village profile data, promoting family planning programs, assisting in drafting village programs, and more.”

Heru Muliyono, S.IP., MT., added, “In general, we observe that most interns are able to adapt well to the cultural and bureaucratic environment of their respective placements.” However, he also noted some challenges, such as miscommunication between students and their host institutions and the limited internship duration. “Some students still struggle to establish effective communication with their host institutions, and the internship period is too short,” remarked the Head of the Community Empowerment Division at BKBPM Malang City.

Students participating in the internship program expressed their gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the new knowledge and experiences gained. Zakki Fuad Khalik, an intern, shared, “By participating in the research internship, we gain insights into government practices in the field and learn how to communicate and interact with both bureaucracy and the community,” he said, highlighting the practical benefits beyond textbooks and journals.
