Enhancing Student Competency: UMM's Public Administration Department Hosts Village Practitioners and Policy Analysts in the Center of Excellence Program

Monday, May 13, 2023 – The Department of Public Administration at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) once again held the Center of Excellence (CoE) program, featuring practitioners from various government agencies. The CoE program focuses on two classes: the Professional Class in Government and Politics Analysis and the Village Governance Class, each attended by 26 selected students.

The Professional Class in Government and Politics Analysis featured a practitioner from the National Institute of Public Administration, Mr. Muhammad Asphian Aswin, S.H., M.H. He taught topics including Agenda Setting and Stakeholder Analysis, which are highly relevant in the context of policy and politics. For the Village Governance Class, the guest speaker was Mr. Aditya Prasaja, S.STP., M.AP., from the Department of Community Empowerment, Women, and Family Planning, who covered topics such as Situation Analysis and Problem Identification, which are essential for the development of governance at the village level.

The materials presented were based on the practical experience of the speakers, providing invaluable insights for the students. The students' participation in the CoE program was very high, as seen in their enthusiasm to acquire knowledge and skills that would enhance their competencies in the field of government.

According to the Head of the Department of Public Administration, Muhammad Kamil, "Bringing in practitioners from various government agencies is one of the efforts by the Department of Public Administration at UMM to provide valuable experiences to students, so they are more prepared and skilled in facing challenges in the real world after completing their studies," he concluded.
