UMM IP Study Program Develops Project-based and Problem-Based Learning Methods

Malang, August 12, 2023. The UMM Government Science Study Program conducted workshop activities in order to develop project-based and problem-based learning methods. This activity was carried out at the Horison Hotel, Batu City, attended by Mr. Muhammad Kamil, S.IP., M.A as the Head of Government Science Study Program, along with all other structural staff of the Study Program and lecturers.


The activity of developing this learning method was carried out as a form of the seriousness of the UMM Government Science Study Program in creating graduates who are competent in their fields, as the profile of government science graduates wants to achieve, namely; become an analyst in public/private institutions, government and political consultants, community empowerment movers/facilitators, and public communicators/negotiators.


"Our vision is in accordance with the vision of the faculty and university, while what needs to be more adjusted now is a curriculum that responds to the conditions of government. The difference between UMM IP and other IP is related to dynamic governance and Islamic values. The superior concept referred to in the vision must be included in the curriculum, study materials, and courses," said Mr. Kamil as Head of IP UMM Study Program.


Mr. Salahudin as one of the UMM IP Study Program lecturers, said that in finalizing the context of the existing vision, it is hoped that the vision of this study program can respond to changing conditions in government and the world of work. The dynamic concept is of course very broad and related to many things.


"The study material can focus on strengthening dynamic governance, specifically to strengthen governance. In addition, the study material that needs to be improved is the concept of digital-based government, this is important to answer the demands of the world of work," explained Mr. Salahudin.


In this activity, discussions related to practicum design were also carried out in order to improve the competence and abilities of students. Mr. Ali, as the Head of the UMM IP Study Program Laboratory emphasized that related to skills that need to be taught to students outside of courses such as public speaking and microsoft office skills can be emphasized more in practice in the laboratory.
