Malang, November 3 2023. A guest lecture activity with the theme "Challenge of Development of Buffering Regions in the New National Capital: Experience of Paser Regency" was carried out by the UMM Government Science Study Program by presenting an extraordinary speaker, namely Mr. Ir. H. Romif Erwinadi, M.Si as Assistant for Government and People's Welfare in Paser Regency.

This activity was guided directly by the UMM Government Science Lecturer, namely Mr. Ali Roziqin, MPA as moderator. In its implementation, the guest lecture activity was attended by UMM Government Science students from the class of 2021.

Mr. Romif said that the transfer of IKN had a big impact on the surrounding areas, including Paser Regency which is the parent district of North Penajam Paser. The Regional Government will act as a buffer, as well as an IKN partner and become a SuperHub in supporting IKN's needs.

"The presence of IKN is an opportunity for regional governments to establish cooperation between IKN buffer areas covering all aspects of development. The mainstay sectors of Paser Regency are the mining and plantation sectors. However, various other sectors are no less good. "Now the acceleration of development can be felt in the era of leadership of the Regent and Deputy Regent," said Mr. Romif to the students.

Apart from that, he also said that currently almost all areas in Paser Regency are connected via land transportation, and he will continue to be optimistic that in the future the road infrastructure will be even better as a positive impact of the IKN transfer. The Paser Regency Government has signed an MoU in order to build strategic partnership relations in the context of implementing regional development and realizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in Paser Regency.

"Paser Regency is very ready to support the capital city of the archipelago with all its potential and must continue to be improved optimally. "We also hope that students will contribute to building and working together in making the archipelago a success," concluded Mr. Romif. (van/roz)
