On February 20, 2020, Research and Writing Lovers (PERS), IP UMM again held discussion activities with exciting themes for every academic community. Talking about Colonialization and Capitalization of Education does not feel right if you don't examine history to understand and guess what has happened, will happen, and is also currently happening.

Currently, many dynamics occur in the education sector in this country. The basic assumption of education is a psychological adjustment and social conditions. Completes the skills needed to find and solve problems, emphasizing skills, not content. The first lighter, Seno Abdul Khomar, talked about the history of colonialism which gave birth to the mental culture of the colonizers to talk about the role of students in the implementation of social life, as well as mentioning a little about the origin of the name of the state of Indonesia. For Seno, so far, some students have not correctly interpreted the concept of community service because there is still an inflated sense of superiority in distributing knowledge to the community.

Achmad Nur Cholis also conveyed the second lighter, who spoke about colonization but emphasized more on the discussion of capitalization of education. Achmad Nur Cholis explained why there was capitalization of schooling. Some of its explanations result from the loss of educational orientation and the fulfillment of market needs. The discussion offered by the two lighters sparked the audience to think deeper into the discourse of colonialization and education capitalization. It was always oriented to the distribution of appropriate knowledge with an approach that was in the name of politeness to those who were not as lucky as students in terms of allocation of knowledge.
