Malang, June 1, 2024 – Mr. Fathul Yadi, S.Pd., M.M., a mentor from the Smart Village Foundation, an institution focused on education and training in village tourism and BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises), shared his insights with students of the Government Studies Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, particularly those in the Center of Excellence (CoE) Village Government class.

During his presentation on how to develop village potential through BUMDes, Mr. Fathul Yadi, S.Pd., M.M. explained, “Every potential in the village can be developed.”

BUMDes is established by the village with the goal of improving the welfare of the community. The majority of the capital is owned by the village, as outlined in Government Regulation No. 11 of 2021 on BUMDes.

The optimization of village potential can be achieved through community empowerment programs, including marketing using social media to promote BUMDes products, strengthening the partnership network of village tourism, and improving management (human resources) for the governance of village tourism.

In managing BUMDes, it is essential to follow principles such as commitment, skill, optimizing potential, synergy for collaboration, active participation in competition, and synchronization of internal and external communication to strengthen performance and ensure long-term sustainability.

The students responded positively to the material as they gained valuable knowledge on village potential development through BUMDes. This knowledge will serve as a valuable foundation when they later engage in fieldwork.
