Malang, 18 October 2023. The UMM Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) held discussion activities through the Debate's Community forum in the fourth week. This activity, which is routinely carried out once a week, is carried out in order to maintain students' critical thinking. The discussion activity was attended by Government Science students from the 2022 and 2023 classes, and was guided directly by the lecturers, namely Mr. Ach. Apriyanto Romadhan, S.IP., M.Si and Mrs. Umi Kulsum, S.IP., M.IP.
Those who acted as discussion starters were a group of eight presenters from the Class of 2022. The theme discussed in this discussion is entitled "Stunting in Food Storage: Government Policy Response". This theme is in accordance with socio-political issues in Indonesia today.
The meeting, which examined the polemic regarding policies for handling stunting, took the form of a two-way discussion and communication activity between the trigger and the audience. In this forum, the lighter conveys arguments which will then be discussed.
"Food availability is very important, in relation to the nutritional needs of babies so that they do not experience stunting. In fact, this lack of nutritional intake can occur while the baby is still in the womb because the mother cannot meet nutritional needs during pregnancy. The Indonesian government responds to food availability through food estate policies. "However, this policy is considered less successful," said the lighter.
Through this discussion, arguments emerged from students, that handling stunting through food estate project policies raises pros and cons, because the existence of food estate projects to provide food availability can actually cause damage to nature and the environment. (van/roz)
