Malang, 10 November 2023. Today, 10 November 2023, is celebrated as Heroes' Day. Heroes' Day is a momentum to remember the struggles of the heroes who fought to expel the invaders from Indonesia. The date of National Heroes' Day itself refers to the peak of the Indonesian people's resistance in the Battle of Surabaya which broke out on November 10, 1945. In commemorating Heroes' Day, of course, it cannot be separated from the opinions of the younger generation, who we know are the ones who will continue the fighting spirit of the heroes. .

One of the 2022 Government Science students named Jemmy Kurniawan or who is often called Jemmy said that "The meaning of Heroes' Day itself is as a day of remembrance to appreciate the sacrifice and dedication of heroes who fought for freedom, progress of the country and to grow the image of our nation as full of with extraordinary twists and turns led by the heroes' struggle to independence"

Apart from that, according to Jemmy, today's young generation can remember the times of struggle by taking constructive steps. First, they can deepen their understanding of the history of the nation's struggle through literary works, documentaries or museum visits. In addition, active participation in social and community activities can strengthen a sense of belonging and love for the country. Younger generations can also utilize technology to spread historical information and challenge values  through social media or online projects that support history education. Encouraging open debate on the values of nationalism, justice and unity is also an effective way to remember the struggle and apply it in the contemporary context.

"It is important to prioritize values such as patriotism, social responsibility and entrepreneurship to foster a heroic spirit in today's young generation. Their involvement in social activities, historical education and humanitarian projects can provide real experience of their positive contributions to society. Inspiring them with stories of local and global heroes can also increase their sense of identity and responsibility towards the nation and the world.” According to Jemmy. "We don't have to fight and take up arms to include or appreciate heroes, but we have to rationally learn and evolve in preparation to become the next generation of leaders of this nation," he added.

The important point conveyed by Jemmy for Heroes' Day was "The strength and legacy of heroes is now ourselves."
