Batu, September 27, 2024—Yasmine Zulfa Almadhea, a student from the Government Studies Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), was selected as one of the participants in the Government Research Internship Program, gaining the opportunity to intern in a village institution in Batu City, specifically in Bulukerto Village.

"During my first week of the internship, I was asked to create a business certificate. It wasn't a difficult task, as the Bulukerto Village website allowed me to simply input the resident's National Identification Number, and the document was instantly generated. This process is certainly more effective and efficient," shared Yasmine.

Following that, I participated in the Village Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang), where I witnessed firsthand how decision-making processes unfold between the community and the village head—or government and society. Discussions focused on development plans, emphasizing the importance of absorbing aspirations and fostering participation from all stakeholders.

In this activity, I was not just an observer. I assisted the village head in analyzing and formulating arguments to ensure decisions were well-accepted. Through this process, I gained valuable lessons and experiences on the importance of listening to community aspirations, considering various perspectives, and aligning policies accordingly.

Thanks to this internship, I feel more prepared and confident in facing challenges and obstacles in the fields of politics and governance. This experience has provided me with invaluable insights. If villages are neglected and unsupported, we cannot hope for the nation to progress.

Thank you to the UMM Government Studies Program for giving me the opportunity to intern in Bulukerto Village for four months. To all the UMM Government Studies lecturers, thank you for the theoretical knowledge shared in class, as it has greatly helped me during this internship.
