Malang, November 09, 2020. Another brilliant achievement was made by students of government science, FISIP, UMM. The student team consisting of Mariano Werenfridus, Wiebe Winarto, and Ilham Muhammad Shandy participated in the Interactive Dialogue Contest on Democracy and Identity Politics organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS), State University of Malang. They managed to win after entering the top 5, which had been selected from 27 articles submitted by the committee. The top 5 delegates came from 3 teams from Malang State University, 1 Wisnu Wardhana University, and one from UMM itself.
The team chaired by Mario (Mariano's nickname) raised the title "Anticipating Identity Political Movements in Indonesia". Their work provides the idea of involving the community in political practice regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group (SARA). Moreover, if we look at democratic life in Indonesia, patterns of identity politics are always exciting and made up by politicians to get votes. This should not happen and needs to be eliminated. The team also explained that Lecturer Ivan Taufikurrahman, M.H guided the breastfeeding.
