The (HIMAP) sent six delegates to participate in the National Congress of the Forum for Communication and Cooperation of Government Science Students of Indonesia (Fokkermapi) held at Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat) in Manado (November 5-9, 2012). The Fokkermapi Congress was considered an important event as it served as a platform to voice aspirations for the development of Fokkermapi, the Government Science discipline, and the nation. "The Fokkermapi Congress is a regular activity for Government Science students, aimed at contributing to the development of the nation," said Riyanda Barmawi, a Government Science student at UMM.
The seven-day Congress was deemed successful despite several technical challenges. "Although it was marked by heated debates among participants, the Congress was successfully conducted. The session, which was just opened by the Steering Committee, was immediately flooded with interruptions from various delegations, especially from Region V Sulawesi. Tensions escalated during the Congress when issues surrounding the National Intermediate Leadership Training (LKPTMNas) were raised, as some delegations felt it did not align with the mandate of the 2011 Fokkermapi Congress at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang," explained Rian, a Government Science student from UMM hailing from North Maluku.
"The tension stemmed from misunderstandings among Congress participants regarding the concept of the National Intermediate Leadership Training (LKPTMNas)," added Monica, another UMM Government Science student who also attended the Congress.
Due to the continuous debates, the 2012 Fokkermapi Congress failed to establish a new leadership structure. "The prolonged debates among Congress participants resulted in the absence of a new leadership for Fokkermapi, which is deeply disappointing," Monica expressed with regret.
