The world of higher education in Indonesia, both state and private, is currently faced with the same problem, namely how to build a vision and mission of learning in order to be competitive in the future. This challenge is increasingly pressing amidst the development of the millennial era which demands students to have adequate creativity and critical literacy skills. That spirit is what underlies the UMM Government Science Study Program on Friday (12/14/2018) to hold a Workshop and Evaluation of '' Vision-Mission, Curriculum, Thesis, Research Internship and Sit In. This activity was attended by all lecturers of the Government Science Study Program and took place in the Senate Meeting Room of FISIP UMM Malang.
This activity is a maturation and evaluation of several strategic policies carried out by the Study Program so far. In terms of vision-mission, the dynamics of government that lead to dynamic government in accordance with the direction of bureaucratic reform policy until 2024 need to be responded to by adjusting the orientation of the vision-mission of the UMM Government Science Study Program on this matter. This is so that the quality of graduates is ultimately able to fully understand the dynamics of the ongoing government and future goals. In terms of curriculum, the review of core and elective courses is discussed carefully to follow the dynamics of politics, government, social and culture. The goal is that the courses taught along with the weight of Semester Credit Units (sks) can reach the needs of skills and knowledge according to the needs of the times. In terms of thesis, the discussion focuses on sharpening current strategic issues for thesis so that it is necessary to create a large umbrella regarding major themes that will later become a guide for students in choosing thesis titles. The goal is for students to have more choices in conducting thesis research. Research internships discuss the needs of the Study Program to expand cooperation with several civil society organizations (CSOs) such as Perludem and ICW. So far, research internship programs have only taken place in government agencies at the Center (Ministry) and Regions (Regional Apparatus Organizations), DPRI and DPRD. In the future, students are directed to do research internships in civil society organizations such as Perludem which already have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government Science Study Program and other CSOs. Finally, the Sit In issue was discussed to follow up the 4-month study visit program from Khon Kaen University students, Thailand. This program is a Study Exchange (SE) collaboration between UMM Government Science and Khon Kaen University which will soon be followed up with (the process of) credit transfer.
