Maritime Education and Marine Insight in Donomulyo District by UMM IP Study Program Lecturers

On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, a number of lecturers from the Government Science Study Program, FISIP UMM, namely Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si, Hevi Kurnia Hardini, S.IP., MA.Gov, Muhammad Kamil, S.IP., MA, and Laeli Nur Khanifah, S.IP., M.IP carried out community service activities in Donomulyo District, Malang Regency. This activity is part of the Internal Community Service Program (PPMI) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, which targets and targets are coastal communities in Donomulyo District, Malang Regency.

In addition to providing maritime education and maritime insight, the UMM IP Study Program service team also provides assistance, socialization and advocacy to students at SMK Muhammadiyah 6 Donomulyo. The maritime education provided is not only about fishermen, but also about maritime policies, marine products, transportation facilities and so on. The purpose of this service activity is none other than to increase public awareness, especially for people living in coastal areas, of the importance of maritime knowledge and insight. This activity is also a form of academic support for government policies to strengthen maritime culture.

Therefore, in the coming July, there will be a short film making training for students about the potential of fisheries and maritime in Donomulyo District as well as a continuation of the maritime education activities that have been carried out. The benefits of this activity will not only be to train the skills and business of students, but can also be used as a means of promotion for SMK Muhammadiyah 6 Donomulyo to be better known by the wider community.
