Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si., the head of the Government Science Study Program, has once again achieved success as the best department head. In 2012, she earned the title of "Best Department Head" at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. This achievement was the result of her dedication and hard work in carrying out her duties and responsibilities as the head of the program. "Actually, there was no specific target to achieve this kind of recognition. I just try to work as optimally as possible to fulfill my duties, functions, and obligations as the head of the program," said the mother of three, speaking to Propnews reporters. "Work should be viewed as part of our devotion to Allah, and in this way, it builds motivation, and we receive positive benefits from what we do," she added, explaining her motivation for work.
As a result of her achievement, this Doctor of Public Policy was delegated by Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang to participate in the regional competition for the best department head in the VII Regional Office of Kopertis (East Java). Thanks to her hard work, support, and prayers, the head of the department, which champions the slogan Strengthening Local Governance, successfully secured second place in the competition. "Alhamdulillah, Kopertis has awarded me the second place as the best department head among private universities in East Java. According to Kopertis regulations, I am eligible to participate in the national competition for the best department head, representing Kopertis East Java," she explained.
Innovation in developing the study program is a key factor that Kopertis evaluates. The innovations at the Government Science Study Program are focused on aspects of learning, laboratory practices, and field practices. These three areas are the priority programs for innovation. "The outstanding innovation that we have developed, which has become a hallmark of our study program, is the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) model and the Government Research Internship Program (MRP). We refer to this innovation as SCL-MRP. The SCL concept requires students to take an active role in the learning process, preparing materials and delivering content based on their creativity, while still adhering to the lecture plans prepared by faculty members through the study program. The MRP is specifically designed for seventh-semester students. These students are assigned to local government agencies, private sector institutions, and civil society organizations like NGOs and social organizations. So far, MRP has been implemented at the Family Planning and Community Empowerment Agency (BKBPM) in Malang and the Malang City DPRD Secretariat. Moving forward, we plan to expand the MRP program to provincial and central government levels, as well as international organizations operating in Indonesia," explained Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si., in detail and with enthusiasm.
