In 2024, the Government Studies Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) sent eleven students from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts to participate in the International Student Mobility program at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The program ran from January 1 to January 16, 2024.

The students who participated in this program gained several benefits, including receiving an international-level certificate, course credit equivalency, networking with peers from outside Indonesia, and invaluable experiences.

“Participating in this program provided me with new insights and experiences, especially studying abroad, which is distinctly different from Indonesia's learning system. Universiti Utara Malaysia is an international institution with a highly multicultural environment. Learning here is conducted through lectures, interactive sessions, and presentations. The most exciting part is when classes conclude with quizzes or games that review the lessons learned. It’s very engaging and fun. The classes use bilingual instruction (English and Malay), with English being more dominant,” explained Vani, a 2020 Government Studies student.

“The advantages include building international networks, gaining experience as an international student, and enjoying an interactive learning process with quizzes at the end of every session. One memorable experience was participating in a community empowerment program with UUM students called SULAM (Service Learning Malaysia: From University for Society),” said Yusril, a 2020 cohort student.

“UUM also offers comprehensive facilities. This program taught us how to socialize with people we had never met before. Additionally, we engaged in a three-day community service activity,” added Anggy, a 2021 Government Studies student.
