Malang, December 6 2023. The UMM Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) again held discussion activities through the Debate's Community forum in the tenth week. This activity, which is routinely carried out once a week, aims to nurture students' critical reasoning. The discussion activity was attended by Government Science students class of 2022 and 2023.

Acting as a discussion starter, namely a group of ten presenters from the class of 2022. The theme discussed in this discussion is entitled "Our Education: Higher Education VS High Cost Education". This theme was chosen to examine the reality of the higher education system in Indonesia.

This meeting, which examined the high cost of education in Indonesia, technically took the form of a two-way discussion and communication activity between the speakers and the audience. In this forum, the lighters present material and arguments which will then be discussed.

"One of the factors that is a problem in pursuing higher education in Indonesia is the matter of financing, where the costs which are considered expensive for students are sometimes not commensurate with the infrastructure provided. "So some students choose not to continue their education at tertiary level due to financial problems and expensive costs," explained Igniter.

Through this discussion forum, arguments were developed from students with the conclusion that the high cost of education can affect the quality of Human Resources in Indonesia. The more expensive the cost of education can cause new problems which have an impact on decreasing the quality of human resources themselves. Because education is a fundamental aspect of improving the quality of society.

Apart from that, through this education, efforts are made for each individual to have the ability to adapt to current developments. Expensive costs will make it difficult for people to complete higher education. The government offers a lot of assistance in the form of scholarships to help finance the process of pursuing education, but again this is still not enough. (van/roz)
