UMM Government Science Study Program continues to support UMM Government Science students to hone their talents and abilities through talk show activities with Exchange Students from COLA Khon Kaen University, Thailand, Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

This event was attended by Lecturers of Government Science Study Program, Government Science Students and Exchange Students from COLA Khon Khaen University, Thailand. In this event, Government Science Students and Exchange Students from Thailand explained about the Culture of their respective Countries. The presentation was started by Thai Students who explained about Culture in Thailand.

"Thailand is a country that highly respects its King and Queen. Modern times like today do not make Thai people forget the existing culture, such as saying hello when meeting other people and also saying thank you," said Suparom, a student at Cola KKU, Thailand.

Saying hello and thank you is an obligation for Thai people when meeting other people. This is done to honor and respect people. If they make the slightest mistake, they immediately apologize.

One of the Thai students, Mintra also explained that Thailand has several different traditions in each region. But Thailand has a celebration that is followed by the entire community together, such as the rocket flight event held after the rainy season and celebrated by the entire community in Thailand.

In addition to explaining about culture, Thai students also explained about Traditional Thai food. Mintra admitted that Thai food is very different in terms of taste, but in terms of ingredients some are almost the same as food in Thailand.

After the Thai students explained about Thai culture, 5 UMM Government Science students also explained about the culture in Indonesia.

"Indonesia is a country consisting of various tribes, cultures, languages, and different traditions. That is what makes Indonesia an interesting country, even though they are different, they can be united with Pancasila." Said Riko, UMM Government Science Student

Cultural diversity makes Indonesia a country rich in culture. Although living in diversity, people still respect the culture of other people. UMM IP students explained about several tribes in Indonesia, such as the Javanese, Samawa, Betawi and also the culture in the city.

"Sometimes I think that some cultures between Thailand and Indonesia have similarities, but that is a very interesting thing," said Mr. Salahuddin, Head of the Government Science Study Program.

Knowing the differences in each culture in Indonesia makes Thai students seem to not believe that Indonesia can live in harmony even though the cultures are very different. Maintaining this culture is an obligation for every society in Indonesia so that society continues to live in harmony.
