The Government Science Study Program of FISIP-UMM, after previously accepting students for the student exchange program from the Colleg Local Administration (COLA), Khon Kaen University (KKU) Thailand, now it is the turn of the Government Science Study Program to send its students to carry out a student exchange program to Thailand. This policy is part of the Government Science Study Program program in the context of internationalizing the institution. The departure of the student exchange program students was released directly by the Dean of FISIP-UMM Dr. Rinikso Kartono, M.Si, Saturday, February 23, 2019.
In his speech, Dr. Rinikso Kartono, M.Sc., revealed that the steps taken by the study program are an effort to improve the competitiveness of students and institutions in the international arena. He appealed to students participating in the student exchange program to be able to maintain the good name of themselves, the institution and the trust of their parents while in Thailand. Furthermore, he hopes that upon their return from the student exchange program they will be able to provide new colors to the intellectual development and academic climate in the study program, faculty and university environment. "Friends there later must be able to maintain the good name of UMM, the faculty, study program, and Indonesia. Sit-in students are ambassadors of the nation who will later play a role in conveying the greatness of Indonesia in other countries," he said.
This student exchange program is attended by five students of the Government Science study program. They will depart on Monday, February 25, 2019. They will follow this program for the next four months at the Colleg Local Administration (COLA), Khon Kaen University (KKU) Thailand. During this student exchange activity, students will follow various activity programs, including studying through a credit system, tours, and cultural education.
Head of Government Science Study Program, Salahudin, S.IP., M.Sc., MPA hopes that during this program, students can conduct government research in Thailand, this research can later be continued into a thesis. "While in Thailand, I hope that students will carry out productive activities, conducting local government research there, later it can be used as a thesis, meaning that this student exchange program can be an effort to accelerate student graduation," he said. He further explained that through this program, students can gain benefits, including increasing acceptance and understanding of various theoretical and practical perspectives on governance, different cultures and societies, social and intellectual maturity and tranquility, and increasing interest in global issues in responding to the challenges of governance.
