Malang, 12 October 2023. The issue related to the removal of the Tiktok Shop has become a hot topic of discussion in the community. On Wednesday, September 4 2023, Tiktok Shop was officially removed by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) as Social Commerce in Indonesia. Regarding the deletion policy, there are many pros and cons that occur among the community.

Jeany Mariska Rahmania or who is often called Jeany is a Government Science student who is currently studying Semester 5 and taking Public Sector Policy courses. He also gave his opinion regarding the hot issue currently being discussed, namely the elimination of the Tiktok Shop.

“I myself slightly disagree regarding the removal of the Tiktok Shop. Because as we know, now is the era of technology, everyone now carries out various activities online, including shopping activities. So here I will just explain the aspect of the younger generation regarding efficiency in purchasing goods/products through digitalization. "But on the other hand, I also know about the condition of these MSME players whose existence is threatened," he said.

In this case, Jeany expressed her opinion from the aspect of the younger generation regarding efficiency in purchasing goods/products through digitalization. In this case, he also saw that policies regarding Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance and Supervision of Business Actors through Electronic Systems had been issued as stated in Minister of Trade Regulation Number 31 of 2023.

"Indeed, there is a policy regarding limiting the role of social media in economic transactions, but in my opinion this is still ineffective if carried out without supervision if the government wants to impose restrictions. "Social media can be accessed 24/hour, so it will be difficult to control this, especially if the government feels that MSMEs are being harmed as a whole," he added.

Therefore, regarding this issue, Jeany provided several solutions for the Indonesian government, namely, "The government must also be able to help MSMEs to further train their skills in order to increase sales competitiveness. "That the government should not just decide one-sidedly, especially as this policy regarding the economy is comprehensive, so the problem is not just about individuals but it concerns many people and many sectors."

He also hopes that the Tiktok Shop can operate again as soon as possible in Indonesia by applying for several permits in accordance with Indonesian regulations. So that the Tiktok Shop can operate again, it must open a business office and also process risk-based business permits so as not to create new problems.
