Malang, 28 September 2023. In order to maintain students' critical reasoning, the Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) held a discussion activity entitled Debate's Community. This discussion activity was attended by students from the class of 2022 and was guided directly by the UMM Government Science lecturer, namely Mr. Ach. Apriyanto Romadhan, S.IP., M.Si.

The person who acted as a discussion starter was Muh Januar Galang Rivaldan, one of the students from the class of 2020. The theme discussed in this discussion was entitled "Resilient Senior School Program, How Effective is it?". This theme is in accordance with the focus of the study on government policy researched by Igniter.

The meeting, which examined the effectiveness of the tough elderly school program, took the form of a two-way discussion and communication activity between the trigger and the audience. In this forum, the lighter conveys arguments which will then be discussed.

"The government is too generalizing policies so that the results of programs running in each region are not optimal, such as the tough seniors school program. "In one region it is successful, but in other regions there are those that are not successful, this is because each region has different characteristics and of course this will influence the results of the program itself," said Pemikik.

Through this discussion activity, critical arguments were developed in the form of hypotheses from students who assessed the lack of effectiveness of the tough elderly school policy. In fact, there is an opinion that the tough elderly program is a form of exploitation of the elderly which is shrouded in the term "empowerment". Apart from that, in the implementation of the tough elderly school program policy in various regions in Indonesia, it turns out that they still do not have access to the budget from the government, and some even pay the fees every month.
