The 2012 cohort of new students in the Government Science program participated in leadership training. The Leadership Training Program (LKP) was conducted directly under the supervision of the Student Association of the Government Science Department (HIMAP). Riyanda Barmawi, the head of the LKP committee, explained, "As usual, the LKP is conducted directly under HIMAP's supervision but remains coordinated with the department," he stated. The LKP's concept is aimed at fostering leadership attitudes and qualities in students. Rian, as he is familiarly called, said, "The principle of the LKP concept is the same as in previous years: to cultivate leadership qualities in students, characterized by courage, hard work, critical thinking, and the ability to solve problems effectively," he explained.
The LKP, which involved 120 new students, was held at Arhanud Karangploso, Malang Regency, over three days (October 19-21, 2012) with a structured program. Anter Mabah, the chairman of HIMAP, elaborated, "We structured the program to align with our targeted outcomes. To foster critical thinking, students were given a lecture on the philosophy of science by Mr. Salahahudin (a Government Science lecturer). To instill leadership qualities, we collaborated with the Indonesian Army (TNI) at Arhanud Karangploso to provide training for the students," he explained. "Alhamdulillah, the new students showed great enthusiasm for the LKP, which contributed to its successful implementation," added the student from North Maluku.
