Malang, January 7, 2025 The UMM Government Science Study Program Laboratory held a workshop with the theme “Method of Converting Vote Acquisition to Parliamentary Seats (DPR & DPRD) Sainte Lague”. This workshop activity was held in the GKB 4 Hall which was attended by all students of the Government Science Study Program. In his speech Mr. Muhammad Kamil S. IP. M.A expressed his hope that this workshop could add insight and knowledge about democratic dynamics and issues. “If you want to nominate as a member of parliament, introduce who you are and what your vision and mission is for the region, not because you are native to that region you can qualify for a parliamentary seat”.
The first material presented by Mr. Yana Syafriyana Hijri, S. IP., M.IP is about elections and democracy which acts as a mechanism for political change and the direction of public activities. “With the existence of democratic elections in Indonesia, it can create political accountability, political equality, and political respisible”.
The second material was delivered by Mr. Heroik M. Pratama, S. IP., M. IP regarding the formula for converting votes to parliamentary seats. “Each calculation formula has different characters towards proportionality and approaches to large and small parties.”
This workshop activity was also greeted with enthusiasm from students of the Government Science Study Program. Because with this activity they understand and understand the dynamics of elections and the method of converting votes.
In addition, students are also given the opportunity to simulate vote counting using the Sainte Lague method. Where students are invited to practice directly the process of converting votes to parliamentary seats. This simulation is expected so that students can understand the technical steps as well as analyze their impact on the distribution of seats in parliament.
