Malang, December 6, 2024 – The Government Studies Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) demonstrated its commitment to expanding academic networks by fostering educational collaboration with the Government Studies Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The event took place in the SISIP UMM conference hall.

One of the key topics of discussion during this collaboration was the Government Research Internship program already implemented by UMM’s Government Studies Program. The program involves students in applied research focusing on local issues and policy-oriented studies.

“The Government Research Internship program has been successfully carried out in various institutions, including village administrations, regional government offices across Malang Raya, provincial government agencies, and even central government institutions,” said Mr. Muhammad Kamil, S.IP., M.A., the Head of UMM’s Government Studies Program.

UMY’s Government Studies Program expressed its interest in adopting the research internship model while considering the implementation of research themes tailored to the needs of Yogyakarta residents.

“We believe this program could serve as a strategic solution to increase student engagement in addressing local issues by developing research themes relevant to the needs of Yogyakarta communities,” stated Mr. Tunjung Sulaksono, S.IP., M.Si., the Head of UMY’s Government Studies Program.

The event concluded with an initial agreement to draft a plan for further collaboration. The synergy aims to create innovative opportunities in education and research while providing tangible contributions to local community development.

Both UMM and UMY’s Government Studies Programs reaffirmed their dedication to advancing knowledge and improving education quality through community-based service and collaborative initiatives.
