The year 2012 marked a golden milestone for the Government Studies Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). In 2012, for the first time, the Government Studies Program (FISIP UMM) received an Accreditation A rating. Achieving Accreditation A is no easy feat. It requires a long process and hard work to innovate and excel in teaching, research, community service, and department management. Dr. Tri Sulistyaningsih, M.Si., Head of the Government Studies Program, expressed, “We are grateful that in 2012, the Government Studies Program received Accreditation A. It is not as easy as flipping your hand; it required a long process and hard work in all aspects,” she said.

Teaching, research, and community service require innovation and achievement. With strong innovation and achievements, Accreditation A will be attained. "The National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) has set detailed and comprehensive instruments to achieve Accreditation A. BAN-PT evaluates the quality of teaching, research, and community service. Additionally, BAN-PT's assessment also includes facilities and infrastructure that support these three aspects. Alhamdulillah, the Government Studies Program has high-quality facilities and infrastructure that support teaching, research, and community service. The program has teaching staff with qualifications of Professors, Doctors, and Masters, laboratories for the development of students' academic potential, libraries stocked with quality books and journals, and multimedia classrooms. These facilities were obtained through the Institutional Competency Grant Program from DIKTI. With these facilities, in 2012, the Government Studies Program earned Accreditation A,” said the Head of the Department, who was ranked 2nd in East Java and was a finalist at the national level.

Out of 144 Government Studies departments across Indonesia, only 4 have achieved Accreditation A, one of which is the Government Studies Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Drs. Jainuri, M.Si., Secretary of the Government Studies Program at FISIP UMM, said, “Achieving Accreditation A is a proud accomplishment. We hope this achievement will continue to be maintained forever,” said the department secretary, who is also a father of seven children.

Prof. Ir. Sujono, M.Kes., former Vice Rector I of UMM from 2005-2012, explained, “Accreditation A is very important for educational institutions and the public as learners because it is a form of accountability for ensuring the quality of education, the scientific quality of students, the quality and competence of graduates, and employment opportunities for alumni. Currently, most stakeholders who hire graduates prioritize those who come from programs with Accreditation A,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of Accreditation A.
