Malang, 30 October 2023. In order to train English language skills for students, the UMM Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) held discussion activities through the Government English Club (GEC) forum. The GEC activity was attended by students from the class of 2022, and was supervised directly by the UMM Government Science lecturer, namely Mr. Ach. Apriyanto Romadhan, S.IP., M.Si.
The person who acted as a discussion starter was Risky Dyah Kurniawati, a student from the class of 2022 who also acted as the GEC forum coordinator. The theme discussed in this discussion is entitled "Politics and Government in Elections". This theme is in accordance with actual issues that are being widely discussed in the current political year.
The meeting, which examined the dynamics of government politics ahead of the election, took the form of two-way discussion and communication activities between the lighters and the audience. In this forum, the lighter conveys arguments which will then be discussed. Of course, discussions are carried out using English language communication patterns.
“As time goes by, people expect a well-consolidated democracy. There are several indicators in its implementation, such as the realization of an increasingly democratic constitutional system, the consistency of the election management system, the implementation of elections that are fair and have integrity as well as being effective and efficient. The next election will be held next year with three presidential candidates. "To create a good, correct and orderly democratic party, elections should be carried out according to legal provisions," said the trigger.
Through this discussion, arguments emerged from students, that students as young people must have awareness of the current political dynamics. Several indicators that actually damage the course of democratic elections. Money politics, black campaigns for example. The existence of these negative things of course makes the election not run properly. Even money politics is considered normal because it often occurs within society. We as the young generation, the government should be able to help and overcome this problem and provide solutions to this incident. (van/roz)
