Malang, November 15 2023. The UMM Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) held discussion activities through the Debate's Community forum in the seventh week. This activity, which is routinely carried out once a week, aims to nurture students' critical thinking. The discussion activity was attended by Government Science students class of 2022 and 2023.

Acting as a discussion starter, namely a group of presenters from the class of 2022, totaling four people. The theme discussed in this discussion is entitled "The Presidential System and Election Politics in Indonesia". This theme was chosen to examine the correlation between the government system and political dynamics in Indonesia.

This meeting, which examines the presidential system and the dynamics of electoral politics, technically takes the form of a two-way discussion and communication activity between the speakers and the audience. In this forum, the lighters present material and arguments which will then be discussed.

"One of the factors that influences the implementation of the presidential system in Indonesia is the use of a multiparty system in the political system. "From a democratic perspective, the use of this multiparty system provides broad opportunities for citizens to participate in political rights," explained Pemikak.

Then the lighter also said that, if viewed from the perspective of the effectiveness of government administration, this multiparty system actually weakens the implementation of the presidential system.

“Political competition between the DPR and the President often results in conflict between the two state institutions. "The impact is that government administration is often more filled with political issues than the implementation of government policies that are beneficial to society," said the lighter.

Through discussion forums, arguments were developed from students with the conclusion that, in fact, the implementation of the presidential system in Indonesia has been combined with a multiparty system which tends to produce political conflict between party groups in the government coalition and party groups in the opposition coalition.

Situations like this cause the position of the presidential system to become weak if the party composition in parliament is dominated by the opposition coalition. This has the potential to cause the process of formulating policies and implementing government carried out by the executive to experience deadlock if there are differences of opinion in parliament.
