Malang, December 29, 2023. The UMM Government Science Student Association (HIMAP) once again held a discussion activity through the Debate's Community forum. This activity, which is routinely held once a week, aims to foster students' critical thinking. The discussion activity was attended by Government Science students from the 2022 and 2023 intakes.
Acting as a discussion starter, namely a group of presenters from the class of 2022 totaling nine people. The theme discussed in this discussion was entitled "The Future of Human Rights Enforcement in Indonesia". The theme was chosen to examine the dynamics of human rights enforcement in Indonesia along with the steps that can be taken to resolve human rights issues.
The meeting, which discussed the enforcement of human rights in Indonesia, was technically in the form of a discussion and two-way communication activity between the facilitator and the audience. In the forum, the facilitator delivered materials and arguments that would then be discussed.
"Our country upholds the values of Pancasila which guarantees equality of human rights for all citizens, and provides assurance that respect for human rights is universal. Pancasila as a source of human rights enforcement has three human rights values, namely Ideal Values, Instrumental Values and Practical Values," explained the initiator.
Through this discussion forum, arguments were built from students with the conclusion that the main solution in resolving human rights issues in Indonesia can be seen from three perspectives, including through; legal channels, mediation channels and education channels. In addition, the government has a very important role in protecting and advancing human rights in this country, as mandated in Pancasila and the existing constitution. (van/roz)
