Malang, May 27, 2024 – The Government Studies Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang invited several practitioners from Vernon Edu to enhance students' public speaking skills. The trainers included Ms. Tanti Nur Dwiyanti, S.Sos CPS, Azuma Mariela, S.KOM, Vera Nurvita, S.Sos, and Helmy Tann, SE.
The event took place over three days, from May 27, 2024, to May 29, 2024. "Public speaking is a process of delivering a communication message in a forum using a clear, organized, directed, and complete concept," said Ms. Vera Nurvita, S.Sos.
The students were taught the basics of public speaking to make their presentations more structured, covering how to open a speech, what content to include, and how to effectively close a presentation in a forum.
The students also practiced public speaking in front of their peers. However, a common issue that arose was that many students became nervous when speaking in front of a large audience, which disrupted their delivery.
Ms. Vera Nurvita, S.Sos, then shared some tips and advice to help students overcome nervousness when speaking in public, such as focusing on the audience.
The students responded positively to the event, as the three-day public speaking class provided valuable skills that would enhance their confidence when speaking in front of large groups.
